in the past 6-8 weeks, we have discovered a video series entitled, "signing time". what a wonderful thing! "signing time with alex & leah" fills our home with all kinds of new language tools, and for declan, this was the catalist for his first word.
dog.
declan has been signing dog for about 2 weeks. he signs "dog" every time he sees one outside, or in a book, and even when he's just thinking about dogs. it has been so fun to start to see what is going on inside his little mind. last thursday, we were headed somewhere with all of the boys. as we were walking to the car, one of our neighbors walked by with their dog, and declan about squirmmed out of my arms exclaiming, "dooooooohhhhhhhhh! dooooooooohhhhhhhh!"
he is also signing "more," "please," "thank you," "all done," "mom," "dad," "eat," "water," "milk," "smoothie," "banana," "cheerios," "airplane," "train," "time (when he wants to watch 'signing time')," "hat," "sleep," "tired," "pajamas," "book," and probably more that i am not thinking of right at the moment.
well, little declan dude, we are so anxious to hear more from you very, very soon!

It's so fun to get these little vignettes of your boys. Lydia is also fascinated with Miss Rachel. We've been showing them to her for over a year but just recently she has requested to watch... which is the only TV she'll watch so I'm thankful to have a few short breaks while she's learning to use her words and hands better.
how cute! a picture or video should be made when he says or signs 'dog'!
